Lào Cai prepares for Mường Lò Festival amid misinformation crackdown

Authorities in Lào Cai are preparing for the 2026 Mường Lò Culture and Tourism Festival, which will feature a fireworks display at the Nghĩa Lộ Stadium on October 16, 2026. The province is also focusing on tourism development in Sa Pa and conducting safety surveys at Lùng Cúng peak to support sustainable travel.

In connection with the upcoming festival, the Mỏ Vàng Commune Police have taken action against an individual, L. N. L., for posting false information on social media regarding the event. Officials noted that such misinformation can disrupt public order and damage the reputation of major cultural and tourism activities. Under current regulations, individuals sharing false or distorted information may face significant fines and be required to remove the content.
