Léo Índio, nephew of Jair Bolsonaro, resides in Puerto Iguazú

Leonardo Rodrigues de Jesus, known as Léo Índio, is a political nephew of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and is currently residing in Puerto Iguazú, Argentina. His presence in the border city has contributed to confusion regarding reports that Senator Flávio Bolsonaro attempted to flee Brazil for the United States via a private aircraft.

Léo Índio has lived in the Misiones province for approximately 18 months and has formally registered his address in Puerto Iguazú with the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court (STF). His defense presented documentation showing he holds temporary authorization from Argentine authorities to reside and work in the area. He faces legal issues in Brazil related to the January 2023 attempted coup.

While investigations continue into whether Flávio Bolsonaro attempted to depart Brazil despite judicial restrictions, Léo Índio addressed the rumors on social media, stating, “Brazil is not a safe country for good people.”
