Loan Danilo Peña disappearance trial begins in Corrientes, Argentina

The oral criminal trial for the 2022 disappearance of five‑year‑old Loan Danilo Peña opened on Thursday, June 18, at the Gendarmería Nacional’s Escuadrón 48 headquarters in Corrientes city. His parents, María Luisa Noguera and José Mariano Peña, were the first witnesses, testifying alongside older brother Mariano Peña. The court barred the use of drones during proceedings.

The case lists seven primary defendants accused of “abduction and concealment” of the child, including relatives and local officials, and ten additional suspects charged with testimony manipulation, obstruction of investigation, and public‑administration fraud. Subsequent hearings will hear testimony from the boy’s other siblings, relatives, and key witnesses who were present at the lunch where he vanished.
