Loan Danilo Peña disappearance trial continues in Corrientes
The oral trial regarding the disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña continued in Corrientes, Argentina, with testimony from a local resident, Abundio Escobar. Escobar testified that on June 13, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., he heard “two desperate screams” coming from a forested area about 200 meters away. He noted that the sound appeared to come from the woods toward his location while a north wind was blowing.
The proceedings also highlighted upcoming testimonies for the following week. Nicolás “El Americano” Soria, a businessman accused of being part of a group that attempted to divert the investigation, is scheduled to face questioning from both the prosecution and the plaintiffs. Additionally, journalists Paula Bernini and Cristian Balbo have been summoned to testify regarding their observations in the area following the disappearance.
Recent statements from high-ranking Federal Police officials, including commanders from the Anti-Kidnapping Division and the Human Trafficking Department, have reinforced the investigative theory that the child was abducted by individuals who knew him. These officials categorically dismissed hypotheses involving human trafficking or drug-related vengeance.
