Loan Danilo Peña disappearance trial: key witnesses scheduled to testify
A trial is underway in Corrientes, Argentina, regarding the disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña, who went missing more than two years ago. On Tuesday, Cinthia Andrea Grimaldi, the gynecologist for former municipal official María Victoria Caillava, is scheduled to testify.
Other witnesses called by prosecutor Carlos Schaefer include Leticia Risco, coordinator of the Federal System for the Search of Missing and Displaced Persons; Federal Police Commissioner Martín Leonardo De Cristóbal; and Carlos Alberto Moreira, a neighbor involved in the search efforts.
Recent expert testimony has implicated Caillava and her husband, Navy Captain Carlos Pérez, after forensic dogs reportedly detected the boy's scent in their Ford Ka and Ford Ranger vehicles used around the time of the disappearance.
Among the primary defendants are Caillava, Pérez, former commissioner Walter Maciel, the boy's aunt Laudelina Peña, Antonio Bernardino Benítez, Mónica Del Carmen Millapi, and Daniel “Fierrito” Ramírez. Ten additional individuals are also accused of involvement in the investigation, testimony manipulation, and usurpation of titles.
