Lobão rejects political participation, expresses hope in extraterrestrial disclosure

Brazilian singer and songwriter Lobão, 68, has announced that he does not intend to vote in the upcoming October elections, stating he has lost faith in politics' ability to improve the country's future. In a provocative turn, the musician remarked that his hopes now lie with “flying saucers” and the “disclosure” movement, expressing interest in a potential public revelation regarding extraterrestrial life.

Lobão noted that he has not voted for over three decades, despite having been involved in various political movements and campaigns throughout his career. His political history includes supporting the Workers' Party (PT) during the late 1980s and 1990s, and later supporting Jair Bolsonaro in the 2018 presidential election. He described his recent disillusionment with the right-wing movement, characterizing his previous support for Bolsonaro as an attempt to confront a political system he associated with corruption, but ultimately finding the group lacking in intellectual depth.
