Local administration initiatives advance in Yangpyeong and Incheon
In Yangpyeong County, Mayor Jeon Jin-seon is implementing various local administration initiatives focused on rural and urban development. Key efforts include addressing the agricultural labor shortage by expanding the foreign seasonal worker program, which has grown from 35 workers in 2023 to 331 this year. The county is also working on urban regeneration projects, such as creating community spaces and parking facilities in the Yanggeun-ri area to revitalize local commerce. Additionally, the administration is incorporating youth policy suggestions into the municipal budget.
In Incheon, the Incheon Women and Family Foundation and Incheon Women's Solidarity have proposed a comprehensive gender equality agenda for the upcoming local administration term. The proposal includes 59 practical tasks organized across four major areas: gender-equal growth and culture, equal labor and work-life balance, inclusive care and safe living, and gender-equal administration and sustainable futures. Experts at a recent forum emphasized the need to shift policy focus from merely providing benefits to reforming structural inequalities in institutions and corporate practices.
