Local authorities implement business tax regulations and relief measures

In Olanchito, Honduras, the Tax Control Department has launched a second round of inspections to ensure local businesses are operating with the required permits. Out of more than 840 identified businesses, approximately 110 are currently operating without valid documentation. The municipality warned that establishments failing to regularize their status following this second inspection may face closure under the Municipal Tax Plan.

Inspections are being conducted both day and night, targeting food vendors, bars, and other nightlife establishments. Business owners identified without permits have been given a 24-hour window to visit the Taxation office and begin the regularization process. The municipality plans to extend these inspections to larger rural communities.

In Dosquebradas, Colombia, local authorities have coordinated with the DIAN to provide direct tax assistance to over 2,300 affected companies. This initiative aims to offer financial relief and solutions, including guidance on VAT refund requests, pending obligations, and payment agreements. The program is designed to bring state services directly to the local business sector to facilitate economic recovery without requiring merchants to travel to other cities.
