Local authorities in Italy increase enforcement against illegal waste dumping
Municipal authorities in Pescara and Falconara Marittima are intensifying efforts to combat illegal waste disposal through increased surveillance and patrols.
In Pescara, the local police and Ambiente SpA are utilizing cameras, photo traps, and plainclothes patrols to monitor the streets. Recent enforcement actions included the identification and reporting of an individual who abandoned large bags of waste in violation of the city's waste collection schedule. Local official Claudio Croce noted that these continuous checks target everything from street bin misuse to the abandonment of bulky items near rivers.
In Falconara Marittima, specifically within the Castelferretti area, police have filed several complaints following the discovery of diverse illegal deposits. Investigations involving eyewitness reports and camera footage led to the identification of individuals responsible for abandoning household items, including clothing and a gas stove, in public squares. Additionally, authorities identified a person who illegally dumped electronic waste in a private area after being paid to clear a basement.
