Local authorities in Spain demand security and infrastructure improvements
In Roquetas de Mar, Mayor Gabriel Amat has called for increased security resources, arguing that the municipality requires both the National Police and the Civil Guard to meet its needs. Amat noted that while the arrival of over 200 National Police officers has been announced, the city requires more than 300 agents to adequately cover its population, which exceeds 150,000 during much of the year. He criticized the central government for not adequately addressing these security demands.
In Ceuta, the PSOE political party has demanded urgent intervention regarding the Merinid Walls following significant landslides caused by heavy rains. Large rocks and earth have fallen into pedestrian transit areas and parking zones, posing a risk to nearby residents and an educational center. The PSOE is calling on the local government to conduct immediate inspections, implement protective measures, and provide public updates on rehabilitation projects to prevent further incidents.
