Local authorities in Vietnam implement community-focused governance and disaster preparedness

In Thổ Tang commune, local authorities are implementing a governance model focused on proximity to citizens. Officials are actively engaging in direct dialogue to listen to public concerns regarding infrastructure, the environment, and land issues. The goal is to improve administrative procedures and ensure that citizen petitions are categorized, assigned to responsible departments, and resolved promptly to build public trust.

In Thăng Điền, authorities are prioritizing disaster response strategies due to high risks of storms, flooding, tornadoes, and landslides. The local military command has established permanent command posts and mobilized police and military forces, including coordination with Infantry Regiment 143. Under the ‘4 at place’ principle, mobile teams of 20 people have been formed in each village to remain ready for immediate rescue operations. Local officials are also conducting field drills and training sessions to simulate heavy rainfall scenarios and ensure effective evacuation and rescue procedures.
