Local business closures and openings reported across Japan

Several local businesses and services in the Saitama and Fukuoka regions are undergoing changes. In Dazaifu City, Baker Shop Tajima, a bakery that operated for 38 years, closed its doors on May 31, 2026.

In Saitama Prefecture, the TSUTAYA located on the second floor of the WonderGOO Iruma store is scheduled to close on October 12, 2026, though the first floor will remain operational. In Kawagoe, the Kawagoe Shimizu Post Office will relocate and change its name to Kawagoe Kumanocho Post Office on September 14, 2026, moving to a location approximately two minutes away by car.

Additionally, in Tokorozawa, the restaurant Hakata Motsunabe 337 closed on August 31, 2026, and is set to reopen as a Pokemon Card shop on October 1. Meanwhile, in Kawagoe, Li Xiaoxiang Malatang opened a new location at Atre Kawagoe on September 9, 2026, featuring a promotional campaign for customers.
