Local business updates in Akita and Kawagoe

Several local business changes are occurring in Akita and Kawagoe prefectures. In Akita City, the popular ramen shop Raamen Konno Onogaba branch has announced it will cease operations on October 14, 2026. The shop, which had previously reopened in May 2025 as a specialized niboshi ramen establishment, was known for its signature soups and beef bone ramen.

In Kawagoe City, construction is underway at the former site of Kyuhei-ya Yamada. Following the closure of the Japanese restaurant in April 2026, new building notices indicate that the beef bowl chain Sukiya is slated to open at the location, which shares a site with the Welpark Kawagoe Yamada drugstore.
