Local businesses in Japan announce upcoming closures
Two local businesses in Japan have announced their upcoming closures.
In Itami, the bicycle shop BICICLETTA DI MARU, operated by former keirin racer Shinichi Maruyama, will close on October 31, 2026. Maruyama, who has won numerous domestic and international races, decided to close the shop to focus on medical treatment for health recovery and to prepare for a new role as a cycling instructor. The shop has provided sales, repairs, and maintenance for sports and electric bicycles since July 2019.
In Edogawa, Tokyo, the hamburger and steakhouse Tobidase! Nikumaru-kun! will close on October 25, 2026. Located near Mizue Station, the establishment celebrated its 8th anniversary this summer. While the shop's Instagram indicated the closure is for positive reasons, the business will not be relocating and will cease operations entirely.
