Local candidates announce runs for regional district director positions

Several candidates have announced their intentions to run in upcoming regional district elections in British Columbia.

Taryn Dixon has filed nomination papers to seek re-election as the Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) Electoral Area H Director for Cultus Lake/Columbia Valley. Dixon, who has served three terms, cited accomplishments such as the opening of the North Cultus Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant and wildfire safety management as key highlights of her tenure. The election is scheduled for October 17, 2026.

In the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), Wendy Sherman has announced her candidacy for Electoral Area D Director. Sherman, a retired forest industry worker and former local business owner, is running to succeed longtime incumbent Rick Fairbairn, who will not seek re-election. Sherman’s platform focuses on water infrastructure, fire protection, responsible development, and local recreation. The election for this seat is also set for October 17, 2026.
