Local candidates campaign in San Francisco and Santa Clara

Local elections are underway in San Francisco and Santa Clara, with candidates outlining their platforms on infrastructure, public safety, and municipal management.

In San Francisco’s District 10, Theo Ellington has received an endorsement from Mayor Daniel Lurie and a $500,000 contribution from crypto-executive Chris Larsen. Ellington, the executive director of the Ruth Williams Bayview Opera House, has supported several of the mayor’s policies, including an RV parking ban. His opponents, Dion-Jay Brookter and J. R. Eppler, have campaigned on platforms that diverge from the mayor’s current administration.

In Santa Clara, District 2 candidate Yvonne Inciarte addressed the city’s management of major events like the Super Bowl and FIFA World Cup. While acknowledging the economic benefits of large-scale events, Inciarte emphasized the need for better mitigation plans to address neighborhood impacts such as traffic, noise, and public safety. She also highlighted concerns regarding the maintenance of public amenities and infrastructure, including the local convention center and swim center.
