Local commerce initiatives launched in Priego de Córdoba and Segovia

Municipalities in Spain are implementing various strategies to support local businesses. In Priego de Córdoba, the City Council has launched the “De compras por Priego” campaign, funded by the Junta de Andalucía. The initiative aims to promote proximity commerce over e-commerce, particularly during the Christmas season. Planned activities include advertising, promotional bags, and a gift-wrapping service located in the Paseíllo during December.

In Segovia, the “Tarjeta Impulsa Comercio” program has reported selling 7,195 units within its first week. Mayor José Mazarías stated that approximately 150,000 euros have been spent across 241 participating establishments through roughly 1,900 operations. The program includes both physical and virtual cards, with physical cards being distributed through Social Action Centers to assist residents over 65. High spending volumes have been noted in sectors such as fashion, footwear, food, and travel agencies.
