Local committees and mayors in Italy seek dialogue on regional services and environmental protection
In the Campania region, community committees from Sessa Aurunca, Piedimonte Matese, and Sapri have requested a meeting with Regional President Roberto Fico. The groups, including the San Rocco Bene Comune and the Sapri Hospital Struggle Committee, aim to discuss the future of three maternity units (Punti Nascita). They seek to present documentation regarding the impact of these facilities on family healthcare, emergency management, and the safety of mothers and newborns.
In Abruzzo, the mayor of Pescina, Luigi Soricone, announced that ERSI Abruzzo has reopened discussions regarding a 13-point document intended to protect the Valle del Giovenco. The proposal, developed by the administrations and minority councils of Pescina, Ortucchio, Ortona dei Marsi, and Bisegna, seeks guarantees for the protection of the valley, its river, and local residents. Local officials stated the goal is to ensure regional projects respect water resources and the local environment through transparent and verifiable commitments.
