Local communities and municipalities undertake road repairs
In Colombia, taxi drivers and merchants from Lorica, San Bernardo del Viento, and Moñitos have self-funded road improvements to address the deteriorating condition of the highway connecting their municipalities. The group used private resources to hire heavy machinery for leveling the road and filling potholes to facilitate daily transit and economic activity. While the initiative provides temporary relief, local stakeholders are calling on government authorities to implement permanent infrastructure solutions.
In Argentina, the Municipality of Lincoln has completed over 20 days of work to rehabilitate the road connecting Martínez de Hoz, Las Toscas, and Carlos Salas. Following heavy rainfall that caused flooding and instability, circulation has been restored for light vehicles and pickup trucks. Heavy transit remains restricted, with the exception of dairy trucks to ensure the movement of local production. Mayor Salvador Serenal noted that while the area is part of Provincial Route 70, municipal machinery was required to address critical sections where previous provincial works were deemed insufficient.
