Local communities celebrate long-term marriage milestones

In Middelkerke, Belgium, the municipality hosted a dinner and dance at the Margriet hall in Silt to celebrate 40 couples marking their 50th wedding anniversary. Mayor Jean-Marie Dedecker attended the event, noting the strong ties between the couples and the community. The municipality provides automatic invitations to those reaching their 50th anniversary in 2027 and offers recognition for those celebrating 60, 65, 70, or 100 years of marriage.

In Buitenpost, Netherlands, Piet and Diny Ploegsma celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Alderman Jelle Boerema of the Achtkarspelen municipality visited the couple to offer official congratulations. The couple, who married in 1966, raised four children and have 11 grandchildren. Piet, a former mechanic, and Diny, who focused on family care, celebrated the milestone with their children, grandchildren, and close family.
