AVE Train Driver Reports Track Obstruction Before Collision in Urda

New details have emerged regarding the train accident in Urda involving an AVE train and an Iryo train. The AVE driver reported to the Atocha control center that the LZB system indicated a “partial blockage 000” and a “Meta 0” speed, signaling that the track ahead was occupied and required extreme caution.

Despite this warning, the Atocha control center reportedly ordered the driver to disconnect the LZB system and resume travel under “normal speed.” The collision occurred shortly after these instructions were given. An investigation is currently underway to determine how these signals were interpreted and why the specific orders were issued to the driver.
