Local community developments in Rio de Couros and Areeiro

In Rio de Couros, Parish Council President Jorge Manuel Lopes has identified several local priorities following a visit from the municipal executive. Key issues include repairing damage caused by Storm Kristin, specifically regarding the roof and fencing of the local school and kindergarten, with repairs intended to be completed before the new school year. Additionally, there are plans to construct a new building for After-School Activities (ATL) near the school to improve safety and convenience for children.

Infrastructure improvements are also underway on the national road 356, where work remains to complete the widening of a bridge.

Meanwhile, in Areeiro, Parish Council President Pedro Jesus is overseeing community holiday programs designed to foster social integration and healthy habits. These programs, including ‘Areeiro em Férias no Verão Júnior’ and ‘Areeiro em Férias no Verão Jovem’, offer daily beach trips and cultural activities for children aged 6 to 12 and adolescents aged 13 to 17, aiming to support families during the school break.
