Local community events scheduled in Bamberg and Dorsten

The Bamberg district is launching its autumn hazardous waste collection service starting Saturday, August 29, 2026. Over the course of eight consecutive Saturdays, a collection vehicle will visit various municipalities to accept items that cannot be disposed of in standard household waste.

Accepted materials include pesticides, solvents, energy-saving lamps, wood preservatives, and certain batteries. The service also accepts various household cleaners with hazard symbols and mercury-containing objects. However, items such as engine oil, asbestos, old tires, and e-bike batteries are excluded from this specific collection.

In Dorsten, the local entrepreneur association ‘Sag JA! zu Dorsten’ is organizing a traditional ‘Schultüten’ filling event for incoming first-grade students. On Saturday, August 29, from 10:00 to 13:00, families are invited to the city center and marketplace to fill school cones with sweets and small gifts provided by local retailers and partners. The event also features a competition for the most creatively designed school cone.
