Local community figures pass away in Italy

Two notable figures in Italian local communities have passed away.

In Matera, Nicola Rizzi, a former assessor for Culture and Public Education, has died. Rizzi was recognized for his efforts to preserve the historical identity of the Sassi districts and his work with the La Scaletta cultural circle. He previously served in the municipal government under Francesco Saverio Acito and contributed to educational initiatives, such as the Matera Racconti series, designed to teach local history to students.

In Piedimonte Matese, Dr. Antonio Cantelmo, a medical director and head of the Emergency Room, is retiring from service on October 31. Having served in the emergency department since 2009, Cantelmo was noted by colleagues for his long-standing professional presence and commitment to patient care.
