Local community initiatives focus on nutrition and health in Brazil and Portugal
In Londrina, Brazil, the Municipal Food Week brought together approximately one thousand participants through twelve different educational activities. Organized by the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (SMAA), the program aimed to promote healthy eating habits and support local producers. Activities included school gardens for children, urban gardening workshops for seniors, and lectures for rural producers regarding fruit and vegetable marketing strategies.
The week concluded with a solidarity action where municipal employees donated milk to various social entities in Londrina, including the Viver NGO and the Tamarozzi Foundation.
In Sines, Portugal, Mayor Álvaro Beijinha announced the municipality's association with the ‘End Polio Now’ global campaign. This initiative, promoted by Rotary International in partnership with the Rotary Club of Sines, supports the ongoing international effort to eradicate poliomyelitis through vaccination and awareness.
