Local community initiatives launched in Haaksbergen and Enschede
In Haaksbergen, the municipality and several social partners have announced a restart for ‘The GAP’ park, referred to as ‘de GAP 2.0’. The project was previously at risk after the original foundation decided to cease operations due to frequent vandalism and destruction. New organizers, including Art4More, COA Haaksbergen, and RTV Sternet, aim to revitalize the space by involving local youth in the planning and management processes to foster a sense of ownership and responsibility.
In Enschede, a new volunteer initiative called ‘De Krasse Kar’ has officially launched to assist elderly residents in the Stadsveld and Pathmos neighborhoods. The service provides transportation for seniors who have difficulty traveling independently to appointments or community activities. Supported by the municipal budget, the initiative uses small carts to help residents maintain social connections and mobility within their local area.
