Local community initiatives receive funding opportunities in the Netherlands

Local residents in the Netherlands are being provided with platforms to present and fund community-driven projects.

In Haarlem, the 'Initiatievencafé' allows citizens to pitch ideas for making the city more sustainable, social, or beautiful. A jury, including local officials and community leaders, selects the best plan to receive a cash prize for further development. Past successful projects include interactive walking and cycling videos for the elderly and a themed hotel.

In the De Ronde Venen region, the 'Pitch Parade' offers youth aged 15 to 30 the opportunity to present ideas for their environment. A youth jury can award up to 5,000 euros in total, with a maximum of 2,500 euros per initiative. The program aims to provide creative young people with the financial means and networking opportunities necessary to execute projects in culture, sports, or community engagement.
