Berlin: Man shot from moving car in front of police station

A series of violent incidents in Berlin has escalated, including a shooting directly in front of a police station in Moabit. In the early hours of Monday, a 22-year-old man was shot in the leg from a moving vehicle while standing in a group on the sidewalk near Police Station 27 on Perleberger Straße. The victim underwent surgery and is receiving inpatient treatment, though his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

This shooting follows a violent altercation in the Wedding district on Torfstraße, where a 28-year-old man allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old during a dispute involving a group of youths. During the subsequent police response, officers were also physically attacked. Following the arrest of a suspect in the Wedding incident, shots were fired from a passing car at the Perleberger Straße police station, hitting the 22-year-old victim.

Berlin police and the specialized unit ‘Ferrum’ are investigating potential links to organized crime and clan-related violence. The police union has described the incident of shooting near a police station as a ‘worrying development’ that demonstrates a dangerous escalation in local gun violence.
