In Joetsu, Kasuga Nursery School held its annual summer festival on August 29. The event featured handmade stalls selling items such as yakisoba, okonomiyaki, chocolate bananas, and shaved ice. While staff members typically run the stalls, this year approximately 180 children participated as both customers and vendors, using tickets to exchange for goods.

In Obihiro, the cafe restaurant Ere celebrated its 50th anniversary. Founded by a housewife seeking to support her family following her husband's death, the establishment has been maintained across three generations of the same family.
