Local community projects focus on nature and recreation in Germany

In Grevenbroich, the Schneckenhaus environmental center serves as a 'green classroom' and local recreation area. Originally established for the 1995 State Garden Show, the site functions as an educational hub for schools, clubs, and youth groups. The area features water trails, insect hotels, and nesting boxes, and is maintained by the Grevenbroich municipal utilities. Additionally, the site hosts the 'Notpfote Federheim' association, which rehabilitates chickens from poor conditions.

In Kronberg im Taunus, the city is planning the redesign of the 'Am Weißen Berg' forest playground. To ensure the new design meets the needs of its users, the environmental department is hosting a workshop for children to share their ideas for climbing structures, balance paths, and hiding spots. The project aims to combine natural materials with modern play possibilities, utilizing the expertise of 'natur!strategen GbR', a firm specializing in nature-oriented green space design.
