Local council reshuffles occur in Konin and Świdnica
Political shifts have taken place in the local councils of Konin and Świdnica.
In Konin, Koalicja Obywatelska (KO) has appointed Joachim Sikorski as its new club chairman. This change follows a controversy involving former chairwoman Urszula Maciaszek, who faced calls to resign after allegations regarding the use of association grants for her company. The KO club also gained Monika Kosińska as a member. Additionally, the Wspólny Konin club welcomed Barbara Musiał, who took her seat following the resignation of Wiesław Steinke. KO remains the largest club in the Konin City Council with six members.
In Świdnica, a new council group named “Zależni od Mieszkańców” (ZoM) has been officially formed. The group consists of four council members: Sylwia Osojca-Kozłowska, who serves as chair, Edmund Frączak, Tadeusz Niedzielski, and Wiesław Żurek. The club was formed by combining previously independent councilors and members who left the Koalicja Obywatelska following a decision to form a coalition with the city president. The group states its mission is to prioritize transparency and local community interests over political pressures.
