Local councilors resign or vacate seats in O Barco and Madrid

In Spain, two local political figures have stepped down from their municipal roles.

In O Barco, Diana Urdangaray has resigned as the Councilor for the Environment. After 11 years in the position, she cited professional reasons, stating that a new job in Ourense prevents her from balancing her professional life with municipal politics. She noted her tenure included achievements such as creating a tree guide, managing feline colonies, and promoting recycling.

In Madrid, Carla Toscano has vacated her seat as a councilwoman following her expulsion from the Vox party. The expulsion followed a disciplinary process triggered by her support for Javier Ortega Smith during internal leadership disputes within the municipal group. Toscano, who was originally the second candidate on the 2023 list, will be replaced by the next person on the Vox Madrid list.
