Local councils announce waste collection schedules for August Bank Holiday

Local councils have issued guidance regarding waste collection and service schedules for the upcoming August Bank Holiday.

In Somerset, households in Burnham and Highbridge are advised that recycling and rubbish collections will run one day later than usual due to the holiday on Monday, August 31st. Monday collections will move to Tuesday, and subsequent rounds will shift forward by one day through Friday. Friday collections will be rescheduled for Saturday, September 5th. Recycling sites will remain open from 9am to 6pm on the holiday.

In the Derry City and Strabane district, bin collections and recycling centres are scheduled to operate normally on Bank Holiday Monday. While council offices and registry offices will be closed for the holiday, leisure centres, museums, and cemeteries will remain open. The council also noted that the out-of-hours service for dog attacks will remain available.
