Local councils in Hwacheon and Yeongjong review budget plans

The Hwacheon County Council held its first budget and settlement special committee meeting to review the third supplementary budget for 2026. Key discussions included evaluating the economic efficiency of snow removal methods for the Jo Gyeong-cheol Observatory, improving the management of the Hwacheon-style education campus construction, and enhancing the transparency of private contracts to support the local economy. Additionally, committee members addressed the need to unify payment methods for the rural basic income system to improve user convenience.

In Yeongjong-gu, the Local Subsidy Management Committee convened to deliberate on the 2027 main budget formulation. The committee reviewed 79 items related to local subsidies, five local finance investment reviews, and 13 new event and festival proposals. This marks the first major budget formulation process since the district's establishment in July. The committee, which includes nine private experts in fields such as law, tax, and urban sociology, aims to ensure that subsidies are allocated transparently and effectively.
