Local cultural festivals planned for Iida and Machida

Various cultural and community events are being organized across different regions in Japan. In Iida City, the Honmachi San-chome Daimyo Gyoretsu Preservation Society has held a meeting to begin preparations for the 2028 Iida Oneri Matsuri, featuring the city's intangible cultural property, the Daimyo procession.

In Machida City, the Machida Jidai Matsuri 2026 is scheduled to take place at Serigaya Park. The event will feature a historical procession recreating Kamakura-era warriors and peasant soldiers, alongside demonstrations of traditional martial arts such as horseback archery (Yabusame), sword fighting, and cannonry. A new pre-festival is also planned for October 24, offering hands-on experiences with samurai armor and shuriken.
