Local cultural initiatives announced in Missaglia and Messina

In Missaglia, the local administration has launched a participatory project for the creation of a 2027 calendar. Citizens are invited to submit up to three high-resolution photographs capturing the town's landscapes, traditions, or daily life, accompanied by a short poetic text of up to 120 words. A jury consisting of a photography expert, a literature teacher, and local officials will select 12 images for the months and one for the cover. Selected authors will receive prizes, while all participants will receive certificates of participation.

In Messina, the 'Aspettando la Vara' program is underway to celebrate the centenary of the rebirth of the Vara (1926-2026). The festivities include a series of religious and folkloric events leading up to the traditional procession on August 15. Scheduled activities include processions of the Ceri Votivi, the movement of the Giants Mata and Grifone, musical concerts, and cultural exhibitions such as the 'Maria Dormiente' display and a white night event at the Basilica Cattedrale.
