San Juan Villicum hosts Turismo Carretera Desafío de las Estrellas with 53 drivers
The ninth round of the 2026 Turismo Carretera championship, the Desafío de las Estrellas, will take place at the San Juan Villicum circuit on 2 August. The special race features 53 drivers, a grid drawn by lottery rather than qualifying, and a single 66‑lap (or 120‑minute) final. All participants must make a mandatory fuel‑stop but no tyre changes are required.
The event is free to the public and will be broadcast live by DeporTV, with a repeat on Canal 9. A pre‑race ceremony will honour Argentine sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands, after which the winner will perform a traditional trompo show on the circuit. The schedule also includes supporting categories – Turismo Nacional, TC Pista and Formula 2 – sharing the weekend programme at Villicum.
Prominent drivers confirmed include Agustín Canapino, Mariano Werner, Matías Rossi, Julián Santero and Juan Bautista De Benedictis. The race is a key points‑scoring opportunity before the season’s final rounds.
