Local development initiatives focus on rural areas and traditions in Italy

In Aiello Calabro, Mayor Luca Lepore emphasized the importance of internal areas for the future of Calabria during a meeting of the PSR Calabria 2014-2020 and CSR Calabria 2023-2027 Oversight Committees. Lepore highlighted that small municipalities must play an active role in development policies by leveraging local resources, history, and agriculture to create jobs and combat depopulation, particularly for younger generations.

In Cassino, the City Council unanimously approved a De. Co. (Denominazione Comunale d’Origine) regulation. This initiative aims to promote and protect local products, traditional recipes, and cultural festivities. The regulation seeks to preserve the city’s heritage, including items such as Canascione Cassinese and Stozza Cassinese, as a means of cultural and economic valorization.
