Local developments in Gniezno and Lublin involve nursery closures and cultural institution vandalism

In Gniezno, authorities have closed a branch of the Municipal Nursery in the Ustronie district. The decision, driven by demographic shifts and declining enrollment, follows an analysis showing approximately 70 vacant spots across the city's nursery system. Mayor Michał Powałowski stated that children currently using the facility will be transferred to other municipal institutions to protect public finances from maintaining underutilized infrastructure. Local activist Paweł Bartkowiak criticized the move, suggesting the administration prioritizes aesthetic projects, such as new murals, over essential childcare services.

In Lublin, the Galeria Labirynt cultural institution reported incidents of aggression and ideological vandalism. Director Barbara Sawicka stated that several youths engaged in behavior including spitting on the building and applying homophobic and xenophobic stickers. While the physical damage was minimal, Sawicka described the incidents as an “ideological attack on the institution and human dignity,” noting that the gallery's controversial political and social exhibitions often make it a target for conservative criticism.
