Local educational initiatives promote civic values and literacy in children
In Veracruz, Mexico, the Organismo Público Local Electoral (OPLE Veracruz) conducted a civic education program for preschool children in Xalapa. Using the story ‘Una gran lección en el pueblo Yarpon’, the initiative aimed to teach values such as respect, inclusion, and democratic coexistence through play. Students participated in a mock voting activity to reinforce the importance of community contribution and dialogue.
In Río Grande, Argentina, the ‘Un puente a la lectura’ project hosted a literary event at the El Muelle Library. Children from the Pasitos Curiosos Kindergarten and the Espacio Infancia Reading Club engaged in storytelling, oral narration, and puppet making. The program was designed to foster early interest in literature, strengthen communicative skills, and promote community learning through creative expression.
