Italy communities engage in environmental and civic initiatives

Various community-led environmental and civic initiatives are taking place across Italy. Local groups and volunteers are participating in widespread cleanup campaigns, such as the ‘Puliamo il Mondo’ event, which involved residents, students, and children in cleaning beaches, urban centers, and parks in locations including Atrani, Caltabellotta, Arcevia, and Sinnai.

In addition to environmental efforts, civil protection and public health services are active. The Gruppo Lucano participated in a national civil protection showcase at Villa Borghese in Rome, demonstrating firefighting and search-and-rescue capabilities. In Bosisio Parini, volunteers worked to secure waterways to prevent flood risks. Meanwhile, the Asl CN2 is conducting the ‘Salute in Piazza’ project to bring mobile health services and first-aid education directly to citizens in various municipalities.

Urban maintenance is also being addressed through specialized programs. In Rome, the company Ama organized a weekend campaign for the free collection of bulky waste, textiles, and small electronics across 13 municipalities. In Gela, integration projects involving foreign youth focused on urban cleaning to promote civic responsibility.
