Local festivities marked by fireworks in Mérida and traditions in O Castro de Caldelas

The Feria de Mérida 2026 concluded with a large-scale pyrotechnic display that drew thousands of spectators. Residents and visitors gathered at various vantage points, including the Guadiana area and local bridges, to watch the fireworks show that began at midnight.

In O Castro de Caldelas, the Festa dos Remedios preparations reached a milestone with 'A noite das bandeiras'. For weeks, local residents have been hand-crafting thousands of small silk paper flags. During a community ritual on the early morning of September 6, neighbors worked together to hang over 20 kilometers of colorful paper bunting across the town's streets.
