Local food and retail updates in Shiga and Daito

Various retail and culinary developments are occurring in the Shiga and Daito regions. At the Keihan Department Store Sumino-do in Daito, the bakery Tomy's will host a limited-time pop-up shop from October 29 to November 4, 2026. The shop will feature their popular an-shoku bread, made with creamy dough and whole bean paste, at a special venue located in front of the McDonald's within the department store.

In Otsu City, Anou Shoten Honten, located near Sakamoto Hieizan-guchi Station, offers a variety of products centered on rice produced at the company's own farms in Hokkaido and Chiba. The shop and cafe feature items such as bread, sake, amazake, and cosmetics. Seasonal offerings include a berry and amazake parfait made with homegrown strawberries and rice-based soft serve.
