Local governance and energy initiatives in Tuscany
In Castellina in Chianti, local authorities are promoting the Energy Community (Cer) initiative. During a public meeting in Sala Brunelleschi, Mayor Giuseppe Stiaccini and officials discussed the economic and social benefits of joining the community. The initiative allows citizens, businesses, and public administrations to aggregate, produce, and share electricity and gas, aiming to increase efficiency and reduce costs through shared energy consumption.
Meanwhile, in Castelfiorentino, a controversy has emerged regarding the transparency of the Urban Planning Commission. Susi Giglioli, president of the Commission for Normative Acts, criticized the decision to deny a councilor from Certaldo access to a session held on October 15. The session, which concerned the Intermunicipal Structural Plan, saw the exclusion of an observer despite municipal regulations allowing public attendance, leading to accusations of a lack of procedural transparency.
