Local government accountability sessions scheduled in Alexandroupoli and Papagou-Cholargos

Municipal authorities in Alexandroupoli and Papagou-Cholargos are facing accountability sessions regarding local administration and resource management.

In Alexandroupoli, the ‘ARCHI’ faction has raised concerns regarding the urban regeneration project for the northern part of the city and the expansion of the bicycle network. The project's cost has reportedly increased from an initial 6.83 million euros to 12.31 million euros. Additionally, the faction is seeking a timeline for a previously agreed-upon one-time financial subsidy for families with new children, which could provide up to 3,000 euros per child.

In Papagou-Cholargos, a special session will address the legality of tennis court expansions in Hymettus. Key issues include the status of necessary approvals to legalize existing facilities, the progress of land concessions from the Ministry of National Defense, and a lawsuit filed by the municipality against the Greek State. The session will also cover communications with the Penteli Forestry Service regarding the site extensions.
