Local government initiatives in Bodegraven-Reeuwijk and Het Hogeland
The municipality of Bodegraven-Reeuwijk has presented its 2027–2030 multi-year budget to the municipal council, projecting a positive balance for all four years. For 2027, estimated revenues are 136 million euros against 129 million euros in operating costs. Residents and businesses will see limited rate adjustments, including a 2.5 percent inflation correction. Key priorities for 2027 include an Action Plan for Housing to assist those struggling to find suitable homes, increased investment in social domain prevention, and the updating of the local economy action program. Additionally, the college proposes the structural implementation of camera surveillance.
In Het Hogeland, the municipality will begin drafting a village plan for Roodeschool in November 2026. This initiative aims to create a joint future plan for the village looking toward 2040, involving residents, associations, and local stakeholders. The plan seeks to address regional changes near the Eemshaven and the development of the Oostpolder to invest in local livability. The process will build upon existing resident-led initiatives and proposals funded by the ‘Aansluiting Wind op Zee’ (PAWOZ) program.
