Local government officials in Indonesia address civil servant performance and student protests

In Tebing Tinggi, Mayor Iman Irdian Saragih led a joint assembly for Civil Servants (ASN), outlining five key priorities to improve bureaucratic quality and public service. The Mayor emphasized that discipline should be measured by tangible performance results rather than mere attendance. He also urged officials to avoid rushed end-of-year budget spending, maintain integrity and neutrality, and increase preparedness for the rainy season.

In South Tangerang, the municipal government responded to student protests regarding the Regional Secretary (Sekda) position. Tubagus Asep Nurdin, Head of the Communication and Information Office, described the demonstrations as a healthy part of local democracy and social control. The administration stated that all personnel policies follow national regulations and invited student representatives to engage in transparent, academic discussions to clarify administrative procedures.
