Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly session postponed

The 42nd session of the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly, originally scheduled for August 25, has been postponed to Monday, August 31. The decision was made following a meeting of the Assembly President's Collegium, led by Selma Omerović.

The postponement was requested by the European Alliance (ES) to allow for discussions within the parliamentary majority regarding specific agenda items. The primary point of contention involves proposed decisions to establish two new public institutions, which the ES claims resulted from direct negotiations between the DPS and the Bosniak Party (BS) without their involvement.

The European Alliance stated that while they support the establishment of these institutions for culture and sports, they have serious reservations about the current proposal. They are seeking clarity on the role, organization, costs, and long-term financial and institutional sustainability of these institutions to ensure they serve the public interest rather than acting as a cover for party interests or personnel appointments.
