Local government transitions in Gödöllő and Nógrádmegyer

In Gödöllő, the local representative body marked the second anniversary of a 2024 decision to abolish the roles of chief advisor and advisors to the municipality. The motion, introduced by Deputy Mayor Péter Bárdy and seven other representatives, was passed with 12 votes in favor and 2 against, despite opposition from Mayor György Gémesi. The move was characterized by Gémesi as a failed attempt at a local political coup.

In Nógrádmegyer, Mayor Roland Rácz issued a statement following the 2024 municipal elections. Rácz reported that the handover of the municipal office occurred with an empty staff, noting that the previous mayor, Gábor József Verbói, and the notary had their employment terminated by mutual agreement. The new administration has initiated a review of municipal operations covering the past five years and is working to fill vacant staff positions.
