Local government transitions occur in Oldenburg and Berlin
In Oldenburg, the newly elected city council is scheduled to hold its first constitutive meeting on November 2. The session will include the election of the council chair, the swearing-in of the mayor, and the formation of various committees. The council has expanded to 52 members due to population growth, with more than half of the members being newly elected. The Green Party holds the largest delegation with 13 seats, followed by the SPD with 12.
In Berlin, political negotiations have progressed in two districts. In Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Jörn Oltmann of the Green Party is expected to run for another term as district mayor following successful exploratory talks between the Greens, the Left, and the SPD. Meanwhile, in Pankow, negotiations between the Left and the Greens are nearing completion, with Jonas Teune of the Left expected to be elected district mayor.
